Dr. Saad F. Habba presently serves as President of the GastroSurgi Center of New Jersey. He is a graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and has been practicing medicine and Gastroenterology for over 41 years. Dr. Habba has a private practice in Summit, New Jersey and is an attending consultant physician at Overlook Medical Center.
In 2000, Dr. Habba identified a new medical syndrome published in The American Journal of Gastroenterology. This condition, known as “Habba Syndrome”, relates chronic diarrhea to gallbladder dysfunction and has been widely applied and featured nationally and internationally on the Discovery Health Network and in standardized medical reference.
Historically, Dr. Habba has served as Chief of Gastroenterological Endoscopy at UMDNJ. He is an author of a chapter in Conn’s Current Therapy Textbook of Medicine and in 1987, granted a U.S patent in the methodology of liver generation. He has presented and published in 26 national and international medical journals and symposia and was featured in many national TV programs. In addition, he was listed in NJ Top Doctors Magazine 2021 and the Guide to America’s Top Physicians by the Consumer Research Council of America, featured in New Jersey Life magazine in the article “Doctors Who Make A Difference”, and cited in The Reader’s Digest magazine.
In recognition of his medical achievements, the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) awarded him the “Distinguished Professor Award.” Dr. Habba prides himself on giving back to the community. Dr. Habba was honored to be the recipient of an official citation by the President of the New Jersey Senate and recognized by the Governor of New Jersey for his contribution to medicine in the state.
In further recognition of his national and international medical and charitable work, Dr. Habba was invested with Knighthood and awarded the honor of Cross of Commander by the Catholic Church. The Queen of England also honored him with the appointment of Officer of Royal Order. He was also granted a Coat of Arms by the Chief Herald of Ireland and the Irish Government.
Most recently, his portrait has been erected in the main lobby of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and a medical school scholarship was granted in his name.
