Michael Kerner, MD, is a graduate of Wake Forest University School of Medicine and did his internship, residency and gastroenterology fellowship at the New York University Medical Center, Manhattan VA Hospitals in New York City. He is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He served as President of the New Jersey Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and as Chief of the Section of Gastroenterology of Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey. He holds a faculty appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Thomas Jefferson School of Medicine in New York City. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology and is a member of The American Gastroenterology Association, the NJ Endoscopy Society, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

He has published articles of original research in biliary lipid metabolism in recognized medical journals. Dr. Kerner has been listed in the Inside Jersey monthly magazine in their Top Doctor issue for several years. He is also regularly listed in the Castle Connolly publication, “How to Find the Best Doctors in the New York Metro Area”. He has practiced in the field of gastroenterology in Springfield, New Jersey since 1976.
