Dr. Michael Alexander Fuhrman, MD, FACG, graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from Tufts University in 1993 with a BA in Psychology. He earned his MD in 1997 from Rutgers University-New Jersey Medical School. He trained in Internal Medicine at Rutgers, including a year as Chief Resident of The University Hospital, and was board certified in Internal Medicine in 2000. He also received his Gastroenterology training at Rutgers and was board certified in Gastroenterology in 2003.
Dr. Fuhrman has been in practice with Associates in Digestive Diseases in Springfield, NJ since 2003. In addition to the GastroSurgi Center of New Jersey, he maintains privileges at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ. He is also involved with teaching resident physicians and medical students and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson Medical School. He is a member of several medical societies including the American Gastroenterology Association and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Fuhrman practices general gastroenterology and hepatology with a specific interest in Acid Reflux disease and Colon Cancer Prevention.
